19 July - Portway Press - Newsletter
In this final newsletter of the year, we celebrate not only the final week of the academic year, but also the fantastic achievements at Portway this year. Our progress from a Special Measures Ofsted judgement in 2015 to an Oustanding in all categories just 4 years later attracted the attention of the Regional Schools Commissioner, and as a result, we received a visit from Damian Hinds, the Secretary of State for Education. He was impressed with both what we as a school have done, and with the way that we have worked collaboratively with Selwyn, as part of the Leading Learning Trust, to share good practice and to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children.
Particular highlights this week:
- Our Summer Fayre community event on the 18th July was a great success. Fun was had by all, and we raised over £1,200 for our school.
- Year 6 had a fantastic end of year day trip to Adventure Island - the newsletter has pictures of what they got up to.
- Year 5 were also out this week, celebrating the end of a hard year's work in preparation for their final year of primary school.
- At the other end of the primary journey, our Nursery children impressed parents and staff with their performances at the Sports Day held at school.
Thank you to each and every member of the school community for your support and commitment to Portway Primary School this past year.
Wishing you a restful summer break, and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Tuesday 3rd September 2019.
