05 October - Portway Press - Newsletter

Friday 05 October 2018

It's been another busy week at school, which has also seen a number of the children explore the curriculum more widely through school trips.  Highlights this week include:

  • Year 3 were lucky with the weather, and enjoyed their trip to explore the beach at Southend, in support of their geography work this term.
  • Year 2 were amazed at the size and scale of the famous London landmarks they found when out and about this week.
  • Our Key Stage 1 children are looking forward to the launch of their Reading Meeting project, through which we will help the children discover a love of reading.  We hope to involve interested parents, and will be providing further details soon.
  • A group of our children were able to visit the Royal Horticultural Society's Show at Westminster - and were very impressed by the size of some of the vegetables on display!

Finally, we are delighted to share the news that further to a recent audit of our child protection and safeguarding policies and procedures, as well as extensive interviews with staff, we were awarded a Gold Award for our practice by SafeCIC.  This award is testament to the thorough and detailed work we do in this area, to ensure the safety of all the children at Portway.  Congratulations to everyone involved on this excellent outcome.

Have a good weekend everyone.
