21 December 2018 - Portway Press - Newsletter

Friday 21 December 2018

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff, our children and the Portway community for their support throughout this successful term.  We have very much enjoyed keeping you up to date via our weekly newsletter, our Facebook page and our Twitter feed.

Highlights in this week's newsletter include:

  • Our Pupil Parliament ran a successful Christmas Jumper Day, in aid of the charity Ambition, Aspire, Achieve - and raised a fantastic £334.  Well done to all members of the Parliament.
  • Our work with Eco Warriors saw their team lead an assembly for us, through which they explained to the children how they could contribute towards our school becoming more environmentally friendly.
  • Year 6 made some challenging mazes out of recycled materials this week; we loved seeing what you came up with!
  • This year's first edition of the Portway Post, a showcase for our children's writing, has been published this week.  Look out for your copy, delivered to your door!

Please don't miss the news article about our fantastic validated SATS results, published here.

Finally, my thanks go to all the staff who worked so hard helping the children prepare for the Christmas Concerts, led by Miss Rich, our Music Lead.

With my best wishes for the festive break, and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school at the start of the spring term on Monday 7th January 2019.
